Crusoe Data Center, Warrenton, Missouri

The Warrenton Board of Aldermen approved Crusoe's site plan for a data center campus of about 337 acres at 22151 NW Service Road in Warrenton, Warren County, Missouri, voting 6 to 0 on January 20, 2026. The approved plan is two 805,000-square-foot data center buildings and a 40,000-square-foot administration building, with the first building and administration building due in 2027 and the second in 2028. Crusoe's Matt Fields told the board the project would be "the largest private investment in the city's history" and committed to seek no abatement of real property or gross receipts taxes.

Resident Laura Gierer, whose property touches the site's eastern edge, told the board, "The county residents surrounding this parcel have been ignored and forgotten," and asked for the vote to be tabled. Alderman Christine Wait objected that Crusoe's environmental site assessment would stay confidential: "It just screams to me there is something in there that you don't want us to see."

In April 2026 the board voted 4 to 2 for a Chapter 100 plan giving Crusoe a 75 percent abatement of personal property tax on the computing equipment, with the city's cost-benefit analysis putting that equipment at about $8.366 billion. Newly elected alderman Josh Chandler called the 75 percent abatement too high, while project backers projected $77.8 million a year in new property tax, most of it for the Warren County R-III School District.

Computer equipment is due to start going in from spring 2027, and Crusoe's Conor Bates has said its environmental studies remain confidential under an agreement with the landowner.
