The Forsyth City Council approved the Forsyth Technology Campus 5-1 on February 2, 2026: a 12 million square foot data center campus that CBRE-owned Trammell Crow Company plans on about 1,600 acres west of Interstate 75 in Forsyth, the seat of Monroe County, Georgia. The developer's filing called it a $21 billion project of up to 21 buildings, one of the largest proposed in Georgia, with power still unsettled.

The land belongs to local timber firm H & H, which has it under contract to Trammell Crow. About 1,200 of the 1,632 acres already carried the agricultural zoning Forsyth requires for data centers; H & H asked the city to rezone the rest and grant a conditional use permit for the whole tract. H & H's filing projected $1.4 million a year in property taxes to the city, county and school board at the start, rising to an estimated $21.2 million a year to the city alone at full build-out, and put water use at 1.5 million gallons a day.

The approval was close at every step. In January the Forsyth Planning and Zoning board split 3-3 on the conditional use permit, with one member recused over ties to the landowners, which counted as a no. "It's going to be developed one way or the other," board member Hal Clarke said. "What you need to do is choose the lesser of two evils." Longtime resident Joshua Pruitt, who opposes data centers, said promises of jobs and tax revenue "you can't take to the bank."

Monroe County has become a data center battleground beyond this project. Google paid about $42 million for roughly 950 acres off I-75 and Rumble Road at the end of September 2025, and in November the county commission unanimously refused to sign a nondisclosure agreement Google had asked for.

Trammell Crow still has to settle its power supply and bring detailed site plans back to the Forsyth City Council for approval before construction can begin; no groundbreaking has been reported as of the latest coverage in February 2026.
