Data centers in Monroe County, Georgia: 3 projects mapped
Two large data center campuses are approved in Monroe County and a third was turned down. The city of Forsyth approved Trammell Crow's Forsyth Technology Campus, about 12 million square feet on some 1,600 acres west of I-75, by a 5-1 vote on February 2, 2026, and Google owns about 950 acres at I-75 and Rumble Road that the county rezoned for a data center in November 2024. County commissioners are also rewriting their data center rules.
In August 2025 commissioners voted unanimously against rezoning about 900 wooded acres at Bolingbroke for a $5.8 billion data center, after hundreds of residents in red "Say no to rezoning" shirts packed the meeting. "Data centers bring in a lot of money," Chairman Alan Gibbs said. "I don't want to fundamentally change how we do things in this county over money." The landowners, Otis Ingram, Holly Doss and Haley Newnam, have sued the county over the denial.

Google paid about $42 million for the Rumble Road land in September 2025 but has given no timeline. In November the county attorney advised against signing a non-disclosure agreement Google had asked for, and commissioners voted unanimously not to sign it. In Forsyth, landowner Tye Hanna said the Trammell Crow campus would bring about $200 million a year in taxes. "We are moving too fast on a project with consequences that will last forever," resident Josh Pruitt told the council.
On March 3, 2026, commissioners put off new county standards, which would move data centers to light-industrial zoning with a 500-foot buffer, to rework the rules on generators and buffers. "That's not far enough away," homeowner Ida Head said. "Five miles might be adequate, but not 500 feet." A revised amendment was drafted for the April 2026 meeting; no result of that vote has been published.
