Georgetown Data Center, Georgetown, Texas

The Georgetown Data Center at 201 Blue Ridge Drive in Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas, is one of Citigroup's own data centers, a 304,700-square-foot facility the bank opened in 2008. Citigroup filed with the state in 2023 to convert existing equipment rooms into battery rooms, an estimated $500,000 renovation scheduled from March 1 to December 1, 2023, on private land for private use.

Citigroup filed a matching $500,000 project at its South West Data Center in Roanoke, Tarrant County, also converting battery rooms into data hall space. The Georgetown building is LEED Gold certified; Citi once ran around 70 data centers and consolidated to about 20 by 2012.

Williamson County has 30 operational or planned data centers on nine campuses, mostly along or east of Interstate 35, according to the Austin Free Press, and power availability along the stretch between Hutto, Taylor and the Samsung plant is the main draw, said Dave Porter, executive director of the county's economic development partnership.

Governor Greg Abbott ordered a statewide pause on new data center grid connections on August 3, 2026 pending a state audit of the ERCOT queue, a step aimed at new projects rather than this operating Citi facility.
