Meta Eagle Mountain data center, Eagle Mountain, Utah

Meta's data center campus at 1275 North Community Circle in Eagle Mountain, Utah County, Utah, opened in 2018 and now covers more than 500 acres. On September 14, 2026 the company said it would add three more data center buildings, an administration building and a warehouse, on land the city council approved for expansion in October 2025; the council also let Meta buy another 125 acre-feet of water a year, raising its allocation from 500 to 625 acre-feet.

Meta is giving the Lake Mountain School District $600,000 toward land for a new elementary school, about 30 percent of what is needed, plus $1.5 million to the district's education foundation once construction starts and $50,000 a year after that, $10,000 each to two neighboring districts for scholarships, and $450,000 to the Walden Park Observatory. Mayor Jared Gray said: "This is a company that showed up here eight years ago and has kept its commitments to us since."

Separately, Eagle Mountain's city council raised the city property tax rate 183 percent on August 6, 2026, the first increase since 2010, to raise more than $5 million a year, mostly for added Utah County Sheriff's Office deputies. Residents angry about the size of the increase and the tax breaks data centers get organized a referendum; resident Alex Washburn, who led the drive with State Sen. Emily Buss, said: "It's like death by a thousand cuts."

The council then repealed the 183 percent rate and set a new, lower one; residents will still pay about double the old rate. How much water and power the expanded campus will use has not been made public.
