Vantage Westlake data center, South Fulton, Georgia

Vantage Data Centers' Westlake project would put a 754,220 square foot data center on undeveloped land west of Plummer Road and north of Riverside Drive in South Fulton, Fulton County, Georgia, east of the existing Quaker facility. The company filed it for state review in August 2024, alongside a second South Fulton campus on Stacks Road, and gave Westlake a completion date of January 2028.

The city of South Fulton submitted the Development of Regional Impact form on August 13, 2024, the state found on November 12 that it warranted regional review, and the Atlanta Regional Commission issued its finding on February 21, 2025. The transportation study filed with the review shows two buildings, labeled GA21 and GA22, on a 35.42 acre lot, with 16.1 acres paved or built over, 27.63 acres disturbed and two driveways onto Plummer Road.

In a preliminary report dated January 27, 2025, the commission said the project did not fit its policy for the area, a Regional Center where it wants more housing, mixed use and parks close to residents, and that clearing the heavily forested site would worsen local heat. It recommended replacing the trees and putting some of the estimated $7.4 million a year the project would bring the city toward buying natural land elsewhere, while crediting the plan with keeping about 8 acres of natural space and all stream buffer areas.

South Fulton adopted an ordinance in June 2025 setting noise and distance-from-homes rules for future data centers, and council member Linda Pritchett said some colleagues wanted a moratorium. "I don't think that we need to rush to continue building up data centers because of the fact that we have a lot of raw land," Pritchett said. "By the time we find out about a data center, it's often a done deal," said Wanda Mosley of the Black Voters Matter Fund, who has been gathering residents to share information on data centers being voted on in the area.
