Sandersville, the Washington County seat, has hosted a CleanSpark bitcoin mine since 2022; it is becoming a Meta data center. CleanSpark announced a 20-year lease in July 2026 for 175 megawatts of power at the site, worth about $6.6 billion over its initial term, to a tenant an investor filing later named as Anviran LLC, a Meta Platforms subsidiary that will guarantee the rent. A CleanSpark subsidiary is raising $2.227 billion in secured notes to finish building it.
When CleanSpark's Sandersville manager, Bo Ginn, testified to state lawmakers in 2024 favoring a crypto mining tax break, he called the industry "an important technological advancement that brings substantial investment, innovation and job creation to Georgia, especially to our rural communities," Capitol Beat reported.
