Journey 1A and 2A Data Centers, Haskell, Texas

Homebound Group LLC, a Google-linked entity, is building a data center campus that Haskell County calls Journey on 300 acres off Red Creek Road outside Haskell, Haskell County, Texas, under a 2025 county tax abatement. Google says it broke ground there in November 2025 as part of a $40 billion investment in three Texas data centers, two of them in Haskell County. The county abatement waives all county taxes except debt service, in exchange for a payment in lieu of taxes of 25 percent on phase one and a minimum $1 billion investment.

"The advantages would be the growth of the economy that we could see here," Mayor Christina Isbell told KTXS, adding that "extra businesses create extra revenue for the city." County Judge Kenny Thompson said it would stay "a small-town atmosphere" once construction crews leave and credited the area's renewable energy for drawing Google. The county approved the Journey abatement alongside a second project, Thelma, in June 2025, and a third, Ranger, in April 2026.

A state filing for the project shows an $11.68 million water treatment plant and fire protection system planned at US 380 and Red Creek Road, due to be built from August 2026 to November 2027.
