Oracle opened an underground data center for its cloud region in Jerusalem in 2021. The facility is in the Har Hotzvim technology hub and was constructed by Bynet Data Communications. Oracle said the underground location helps protect the service from physical attacks.
The data center occupies four floors in a bunker below five parking levels and a 17-story building. The article puts it 50 meters below ground level and describes the bunker as 14,000 square meters. Oracle also announced plans for a second Israeli cloud region, but the article did not identify a location for it.
