Project Gladys is a planned 150-megawatt data center that the developer Soluna Holdings says will sit alongside a 226-megawatt wind farm in southeast Texas and draw on its power. Soluna, which builds data centers for Bitcoin mining and AI next to wind, solar and hydroelectric plants, announced the project in August 2025 and has not named the wind farm, the town or the county.

It said only that the site is being developed with "a prominent U.S.-based independent power producer (IPP) managing over $40 billion in assets and more than 80 energy facilities nationwide." The project is named for Dr. Gladys West, the mathematician whose geospatial modeling work paved the way for GPS.

At launch Soluna said it was still working on land acquisition, power contract negotiations and planning for a connection to ERCOT, the Texas grid operator. Its most recent public update, in April 2026, said it was still advancing land due diligence and power purchase negotiations for Gladys and two sister projects, Annie and Fei. In the same update Soluna said the three projects would move outside ERCOT's Large Flexible Load batch study, "leveraging the sub-75 MW interconnection pathway to accelerate development timelines."

Soluna describes its business as turning surplus renewable energy into computing, and its projects page lists Gladys as a 150 MW wind-powered site in Texas; the company already operates other Texas data centers, including its Dorothy campus.

Texas local governments have limited say over projects like this one: House Bill 2127, passed in 2023, blocks them from enacting policy that goes beyond state law. Gov. Greg Abbott has ordered regulators to audit the energy and water use of proposed data center developments statewide, and lawmakers are expected to take up data center rules in the session that begins in January 2027. Soluna says its next steps for Gladys are to complete power purchase agreements, land agreements and ERCOT planning.
