Google's first Missouri data center is still under construction at the Hunt Midwest Business Center, just east of Worlds of Fun in Kansas City's Northland, in Clay County. Google broke ground in March 2024 and confirmed in February 2026 that the campus was still under construction. The project was announced at 1 billion dollars and is expected to create about 1,000 construction jobs and 1,400 jobs in all, once logistics and warehousing work tied to the site are counted.

Port KC, the city's port authority, approved a ceiling of up to $25 billion in bonds over 35 years. That ceiling is separate from Google's $1 billion announced investment in the initial data center. The project can also use a 2015 Missouri law that exempts data center equipment, utilities and construction materials from state and local sales tax. A spokesman for then Governor Mike Parson said at the time that Google was not receiving direct incentives from the state. Google is bringing its free Skilled Trades and Readiness program to the region and giving more than 100,000 dollars to the North Kansas City School District's STEAM center.

U.S. Senator Josh Hawley, a Missouri Republican who has often criticized big tech companies, said he had no problem with the project but hoped the jobs would be unionized. "If they actually want to do something to provide jobs for Missourians, that would be a nice break from their usual evil activities," he said. Google is also planning a second Northland campus nearby, called Project Mica, where Port KC's board is separately weighing a bond package; the tax terms at the Hunt Midwest site itself are already settled.
